Each Wednesday and Saturday Central Desert Artists Teddy and Gayle Gibson will be painting at the Eumundi Pavillion Markets.
Come and watch as they tell stories from Jukurrpa that belong to their homelands. Listen to ancient Warlpiri language as they discuss things between themselves and share with us the significance of their work. Laugh with us as the day unfolds and we get a little giddy from being together and the euphoria of a timeless practise.
Boomerang Bus launch

On the 22nd August 2015 SevGen launched our Boomerang Bus initiative at Sunspace Cafe in Bebbington Road Doonan.
On a rainy day over 60 people attended the launch showing the strong support for the Boomerang Bus.
The attendees which included the initial lead teachers of the Sunshine Coast area were part of the smoking and clearning ceremony, conducted by Bernadette Hazzard (a Goongarri woman living in the Sunshine Coast) and Michael (world reknown Yiggi Yiggi musician and dancer) which clears the way for great work to be done from the bus.
Enquiries are coming in and with the 4th term about to start we will be planning our deliveries for 2016.
With the arrival of our 5th group from the Central Desert a new tactic for achieving our desired outcomes has emerged. Sunshine Coast has the some of the most idyllic beaches in the world and the beaches from Caloundra to Noosa have become our biggest and best resource in the Modern Songlines project.
SevGen has teamed up with Piken Surf, who offer a fantastic program that incorporates water safety, swimming proficiency assessment, surf awareness, surf lessons and water therapy activities, to begin their stay in the Modern Songlines program.
The vision with the program is to form a surf team and enter a group of Modern Songlines participants into a surf competition. We are also looking into the feasability of SevGen running a surf competition which the Modern Songlines teams will host.
Initial feasability discussions have unearthed passionate and willing volunteers amidst our Sunshine Coast Community and the idea is becoming an exciting prospect.
